Who is behind Obama’s decision to attack Libya?

Information emerged in the recent days, that the person behind Obama’s decision to bomb Libya is Samantha Power, a former Harvard professor who is now a Senior Director at the National Security Council in the White House. Samantha Power is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and a foreign policy scholar. She is, however, best known for being a human rights advocate and a proponent of the concept of humanitarian intervention. Power was one of the closest Obama’s foreign policy advisors in his presidential campaign in 2008. However, she had to resign from that position after she called Hillary Clinton “a monster” in one of her interviews for an Irish magazine.

It has been reported that reluctant Obama changed his mind to attack Libya after insistence from Samantha Power, who was joined by Susan Rice and Hillary Clinton.

The media reactions to this situation are much differentiated but rather critical. The American Thinker warns about growing influence of Samantha Power over Barack Obama. The magazine sees Power as a realistic threat to U.S.-Israeli relations:
